Site work has started on a new custom home on a wooded lot in Belmont, North Carolina. These photos are from the first days of clearing: the excavator working through the trees, root balls coming out of the ground, and the open, cleared area where the house will sit.
Before much else happens, a temporary gravel drive goes in so trucks and equipment have a firm way on and off the lot, and the building permit is posted on site. The neighbors matter, too. With rain in the forecast, the plan is a shallow ditch to keep runoff and silt from washing into the yard next door, and silt fence goes up as soon as the trees are out of the way.
Every home we build starts on a day like this, and we have been building around Lake Wylie since 1987. We will keep sharing this one as it comes up out of the ground. To see the communities and towns where we work, visit https://mcspaddenhomes.com/where-we-build
