The exterior rails are on at this contemporary home on a wooded lot in Charlotte. Horizontal black metal rails now run along the covered back porch and down the deck stairs to the yard. Earlier in the week the HVAC crew finished up and the painters walked the house for their quality check, and the flooring crew has been wrapping up the last bedroom.

The thin horizontal bars keep the view to the woods open from the porch, and their black finish matches the black-framed windows around the house. The outside of the home uses a short list of materials that carry from one side to the other: light gray walls above a dark brick base, wood siding at the porch and garage, and wood decking on the porch and stairs. The wall lanterns by the garage are black as well, so the windows, rails and fixtures all match.
