Lakefront Living at McLean
Charlotte’s closest lake laps at our 5 miles of shoreline. That leaves you 320 miles more of shoreline to explore as you fish for trophy bass or cruise to lakeside destinations including several marinas, the towns of Lake Wylie and Tega Cay and the region’s largest nature preserve, McDowell Park.
Boaters can travel more than 20 miles from the lake’s upper limits in Mount Holly to the Wylie dam in South Carolina.
Culture and Shopping
Whether you prefer highbrow, lowbrow or something in between, you will find plenty of choices nearby. Take in student-faculty plays and concerts at Belmont Abbey College, just a mile north downtown Belmont. Numerous community theater and dance groups perform regularly in Gastonia and Charlotte.
For boutiques, start at historic downtown Belmont. You’ll have fun browsing stores like Jolie Boutique, Gigi’s Boutique, Surprise Me and Piccolo Antique Mall just a few miles from McLean.
Education
McLean residents have many educational choices for their children and for themselves. The 10-county Charlotte region has 50 colleges and universities serving 240,000 students, including Belmont Abbey and the 27,000-student University of North Carolina – Charlotte.
Gaston County’s well-regarded public schools serve our community with New Hope Elementary School, Cramerton Middle School and South Point High School. Parents may also want to consider one of Gaston’s three state-funded charter schools and several independent schools, including Gaston Day School.
